If you love the idea of using your travels to gain long-lasting wellness attributes such as mental resilience, confidence, self-awareness and reduced stress that are transferrable into everyday life, then you are in the right place!

Early beginnings

The daughter of an international lawyer and a high-powered Kenyan diplomat, I grew accustomed to traversing the globe at an early age. During this impressionable time, I learned the true richness of being a global citizen and I guess I never grew out of the wanderlust!

“ 𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐨 𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 ”⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

As a young Black female doctor, I navigated in highly competitive medical fields occasionally feeling stuck and stressed about the realities of the profession that I’d loved since I was a little girl. On top of that, I also wasn’t entirely sure how to create a lifestyle that both fulfilled me and allowed me to impact as many people as possible without burning out.

Travelling regularly was my escape, my adventure. I appreciated that changing my surroundings and travelling independently with the goal of slowing down allowed me the space to focus solely on my well-being and reflect from a new perspective.

Every trip became the catalyst for positive transformation in many areas of my life.

And as I began researching the multitude of mental, physical, spiritual and scientific benefits that travel provides when we slow down and holistically explore our inner selves as we explore the world, I bolstered my knowledge by training as a travel consultant, becoming certified in cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness and from there, the foundations of What The Doctor Recommends and prescribed wellness travel were laid.

The transformative nature of travel

There is a beauty to travelling and a power of understanding how you fit into the world.

It's for those who love learning new things and seeing different people and places; for those who know that travel is more than just getting from point A to point B.

My wellness and luxury travel services expose the most important parts of travelling – the people you meet on the way, new perspectives, self-discovery and the lessons you take away from your adventures once you've returned home.

Travel, especially when done mindfully and with intention, offers an opportunity for intrinsic motivation, personal growth and self-discovery with resulting positive mental health benefits such as increased confidence, improved productivity and

Of course, travel is no concrete cure for anything, nor can the proven research be applied to every person's outcome or experiences, but the scientific evidence clearly suggests that travel is proven to be healing in a wide range of ways.

After my own experiences using the transformative nature of mindful travel to successfully heal from occupational burnout, stress and anxiety, nowadays I love empowering clients to decorate their passports with foreign stamps. I prescribe curated wellness travel experiences to help burnt-out professionals and overstretched execs recover from occupational burnout and build long-lasting resilience to the pressures of working life because I know it works.
